The Construction and Engineering Group (CEG) has twelve full-time solicitors dealing with all aspects of building and engineering work.



The CEG operates on a national basis in both dispute resolution and projects work. Clients include Carillion Construction, Crown House Technologies, Balfour Beatty, Northumbrian Water Group, Metnor Group Plc, Langley Holdings, VA Tech, Sanofi-Aventis, Bank of Scotland, the University of Durham, Home Group and North British Housing Association.

On the non-contentious side clients include public and private sector organisations and funders and the team acts on PFI and LIFT schemes nationwide. The team is involved in a number of high profile developments acting for clients such as Bank of Scotland, Charles Church Developments Limited, Centreland Limited and Hanro Limited.

Members of the Group provide lectures and seminars on a regular basis, including the ongoing collaboration with the School of the Built Environment at Northumbria University, providing the construction law module of its MSc in Project Management. Simon Lewis is also responsible for the Construction Law unit of LLMs in Advanced Commercial Property Law and Advanced Commercial Law run by the School of Law at the university.

Adjudication remains at the forefront of construction dispute resolution and all of our contentious construction team have extensive experience of both pursuing and defending claims through the various adjudication bodies. Over the last year the team, which includes three credited adjudicators, has acted in over 90 adjudications with a combined value in excess of £10 million.

The team has also participated in a number of high value arbitrations and contributes to CIArb seminars regularly.
