The 13 strong Wealth Management Tax Team is one of the largest and most experienced in the area. The team members have a range of qualifications including membership of the Chartered Institute of Taxation, the Institute of Chartered Accountants, the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners and the Association of Tax Technicians.
The team works closely with other Wealth Management teams, as well as other teams across the firm, to offer both tax compliance and tax advisory services.
The tax compliance service includes the preparation of tax returns for individuals, trustees and executors of estates and arranging either the payment or repayment of tax. Our aim is to ensure that the client’s tax filing obligations are met as efficiently as possible; for example, subject to client approval, we make full use of web based filing and tax payment monitoring.
We undertake a broad range of advisory work, covering income tax, capital gains tax and inheritance tax. The client issues on which we advise generally cover more than just tax and we often integrate our work with other Wealth Management colleagues providing legal and financial advice to devise practical solutions which fit our client’s specific needs.

• Capital gains tax planning for business owners who wish to sell their companies in the short, medium or long term. This includes both pre and post sale planning.
• Inheritance tax planning for individuals and trustees. This includes a full “audit” of the client’s current position, establishment of the client’s goals and the development of a strategy to meet them.
• Income tax strategies for extracting value from companies. This includes consideration of the overall package provided to individuals and, in the case of owner managers, dividend versus salary comparisons.
• Advice to start-up businesses including planning involving the Enterprise Investment Scheme.
• Advice on all trust related issues
• Advice to employers on employee tax issues including PAYE, remuneration strategies, termination payments and sending employees overseas.
• Real estate tax planning.
• Advice on the acquisition of second homes both in the UK and overseas.
• Planning for persons leaving and coming to the UK.
