Jeremy has many years' experience advising on direct and indirect tax issues for corporate and property clients and heads the largest corporate tax team of any North East law firm.

In particular, Jeremy specialises in tax structuring for all manner of complex corporate, charitable and property transactions (including mergers and acquisitions, demergers and joint ventures) and finance leasing, tax aspects of particular investment vehicles (including VCTs), funding for transactions (including structured finance and asset finance), employee incentives and other employment tax issues.

Jeremy’s clients range from large quoted and private companies to start up businesses and are drawn from a wide variety of sectors, including:-

• transport;
• universities, schools and higher education bodies;
• charities;
• housing associations, property developers and investors, landlords and tenants;
• financial investors (eg VCTs);
• food and leisure; and
• newspaper and printing.

Recent speaking engagements have included presentations to NORSCA, and the Newcastle and Cumbria and SW Scotland branches of the CIoT on property tax issues and SDLT.

Jeremy is a member of the CIoT and the Stamp Taxes Practitioners Group which meets in London bi-monthly.
