    Mark is a partner and head of our intellectual property group. Mark’s experience covers the entire range of intellectual property issues, both contentious and non-contentious. He has many years’ experience of advising clients on the protection and exploitation of intellectual property rights generally and the enforcement of intellectual property rights against infringers.
    Mark’s contentious experience includes trade mark infringement, passing off, breach of confidence, patent infringement and patent revocation proceedings. He also has experience of a number of domain name disputes both under the Nominet dispute resolution procedure and ICAN’s dispute resolution procedure (both WIPO and NAF).

 

Experience

• Advising the National Trust on copyright matters, including:-
• advising on contracts, restricting third party rights, third party use of Trust materials;
• contracts for production of original works by third parties for the Trust;
• preparation of standard documents for use by Trust staff;
• advice on protection of works now out of copyright.

• Advising North British Housing Association on copyright and materials developed for its brochure documentation.

• Advising a number of technology spin-outs from Universities, including the University of Durham.

• Advising RTC North on the management of the Northern NHS IP exploitation hub. In particular, advising on the identification, protection and exploitation of IP developed within NHS trusts in the North, including drafting an agreement between RTC North and the trusts relating to the management of the IP portfolio.
